About this book
After being forced to flee their warm mountain, Kavi and his family wake up in an unfamiliar forest with no tools, no shelter, and no tribe to help them. Together they search for fresh water, find an empty cave to call home, and build a simple fish trap to get the food they need to survive.
Then one day, a strange animal appears outside their cave. Is it a wolf—or a dog? Mom isn’t sure it’s safe, but Dad remembers seeing a dog like this with one of the hunters from their tribe. Could it have become lost when everyone fled their home? The family gives him some fish, names him Ash, and soon discovers they have found a loyal friend.
One day, Kavi and his sister, Luna, make another surprising discovery. A fruit plant is growing in the forest near their cave where nothing had grown before. How did it get there? The answer leads to an idea that could change the future.
